18 Years in the EU
Well done to all those former Iron Curtain countries, well done to all those original member countries who made it possible. It was worth the effort, and the world is far better place. Great Job!

Re: 18 Years in the EU
At a session in Strasbourg on Saturday, the conference plenary — composed of representatives of EU institutions, national parliaments and citizens’ panels — approved more than 300 proposals. They include the abolition of national vetos, granting the European Parliament the right to propose legislation, more investment in climate change mitigation, the launch of “joint armed forces” and transnational voting lists.

Best of luck with that.

Re: 18 Years in the EU
Don't think Irish said Ireland was "covered" in free tarmac roads, but I'd bet that, unlike the "free autobahn class highways" in the east of the EU, whatever they have, they go from somewhere people want to be to somewhere else people want to be.

Re: 18 Years in the EU
Ireland is covered in free tarmac roads? The bit about the dogs and burning stuff is hardly new or thanks to the EU, is it though.

Re: 18 Years in the EU
Irish. Calling bullshit on the free roads, there are three tolls between Dublin and cork, no idea how many between Cork and Limerick yet.

I’ll find out tomorrow.

Re: 18 Years in the EU
Pickle the UK you saw and left would have progressed with or without the EU, because we have always been a major financial market. What we've found the European continent (ergo the EU) to be is one of 'if you give us a set amount of ludicrous money will limit our ability to be cunts to you and make life easier to trade with us and drop all the liberties we try to take' even now Germany in particular are using this to make up tax charges etc to take goods in........so all they've done is go back to their historical (over centuries of being so) cunts......

.....I'd rather we stop trading with you lot full stop or sell from here over the net instead of sending goods in.

The EU has been magnificent. We got
Our whole country covered in free tarmac roads. Which was probably about the only thing we didn’t need help doing !

Put half the ‘ethnic’ minority out of a ‘job’ that did boss.

Now they just fight their Dags and burn stuff.

Ah well.

Re: 18 Years in the EU
Well then you clearly haven’t been reading my posts because while I do see the EU has had an obvious effect positive effect (I well remember what both Poland and the UK was before it), I have always argued the need for a positive presence of the UK in the EU was about reforming its reactive features and especially the Common Agricultural Policy. I have always said this is vital as it is just as much a cause of poverty and war on the EU’s periphery as our addiction to fossil fuels. It certainly is the root cause of much labour migration and I’ll certainly accept this is a very solid charge to be laid at the EU’s door.

That'll be because that is exactly what this thread is.

H&P

I voted against leaving the EU but at the same time disagree with a lot of the practices and principles of what the EU engage in and stands for.

You on the other hand seem to behave like a member of a cult who has spent the past few years constantly preaching to everyone else that their lives would be better if they had followed or listened to you.

I didn’t want Brexit either but for fucks sake reign it in with all these stupid threads like this one.

It reeks of being desperate for attention.

Apart from getting you to believe the priests can arrange to make all that bad shit you do go away when you die, the other great lie is the “free money” one. The first is there to keep you in a state of guilt and the second makes you permanently jealous and frustrated. Works like magic.
